Unofficial Results: Budget, Bond, & Board Election

May 19, 2026

In unofficial results, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 the Scarsdale community approved the Scarsdale School Budget by a vote of 2193 yes to 647 no, for an approval rate of 77.2%. Furthermore, the community approved the Capital Projects Bond referendum by a vote of 2030 yes to 805 no, for an approval rate of 71.6%.

In the contest for school trustee seats, Kevin Ziegler was elected with 1641votes, and Omer Wiczyk was elected with 1632 votes. Both Kevin Ziegler and Omer Wiczyk will serve three year terms expiring June 30, 2029. The District sincerely thanks the candidates for their interest in serving in this important leadership role.

“We are incredibly grateful to our community for showing up to weigh in on these enormously impactful decisions. Voter turnout was nearly four times greater than last year’s. This speaks both to the importance of what was on the ballot, as well as to the commitment of the many volunteers, including our PTAs, the PTC, and Maroon & White, who worked tirelessly to provide information about the budget and bond to the community so our residents could make informed decisions. We also want to acknowledge and thank the members of the Capital Projects Steering Committee who volunteered a tremendous amount of time to help shape the bond program. Their input resulted in a collection of critical projects that will enable us to continue to provide our students with environments that promote learning and growth now and into the future.

While the budget process was once again challenging and didn’t include everything we hoped for, we are grateful to our community for their input during the process, and strong community support of our students through the adoption of this budget,” said Dr. Drew Patrick, Superintendent. “This budget will allow our schools to continue to reach the high standards we expect for our students while staying within the tax cap. We look forward to continuing to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students in keeping with our strategic plan priorities, Learning, Living, Leading.”

Ms. Suzie Hahn, President of the Scarsdale Board of Education echoed Dr. Patrick’s gratitude:

“On behalf of the Board, thank you to the community for your support of our schools and our students,” Ms. Hahn said. “I would also like to thank District Clerk Honore Adams, Chair Allisa Baum, all of the poll workers who volunteered their time, and the Scarsdale Middle School staff for ensuring everything ran smoothly. Congratulations to Kevin and Omer on their election to the School Board. I look forward to serving with them and the rest of the Board in the coming year.”
Scarsdale High School also held an election today for two Ex Officio student seats on the Board of Education. A total of five candidates ran for two positions on today’s ballot. Congratulations to Lucy Eisenberg, who represents the Class of 2027 and will serve a second term, and to Nathan Goldfarb, who will serve as a representative of the Class of 2028. Their service to their peers and the school community is eagerly anticipated.

The Board expresses its appreciation for all of the applicants and candidates. The Board also wishes to thank the Scarsdale High School Government and Administration for organizing the student BOE election.

The Board will confirm the results and make them official at their next meeting on Monday, June 8, 2026.
